INWARD PEACE: Posted: January 18, 2021

I am going to tell you all this with all sincerity. It is so hard to maintain my inner peace. I am battling with my mind to the distractions of the external world. There is plenty of negative news to trigger my attention and slowly disrupts my peaceful mind.
So, I focus and work on maintaining and growing my inner peace. Somedays it is hard. I can say, the more I work on this, the more I love being in this introspective and introverted space. In a time, where being social is not totally possible, I am embracing the opportunity to be within. I am working on this practice so much, to not give away my peace when the external world shakes me, I start to crave this meditative and reflective time. It has become a space to listen and hone in on what bothers me but also what calms me. It is this calmness which gives me ease and allows me to be better for myself then others. What are you doing to find your inward peace and calm?

How are you cultivating peace within yourself?

PEACE IN CHAOS: Posted: January 11, 2021

Lately, external distractions seem to be rocking my inner peace. I try to take inventory of thoughts, words, and actions which create, promote, and enhance my inner peace. I cannot change the chaos of everything around me. I have control of my thoughts, words, and actions. I enjoy being and practicing peace; and lately, it has been challenging. My checking within through journaling, meditation, mindful movement, and being in stillness. I am going to be practice peace in chaos.
How are you cultivating peace within yourself?

STRONG AND STEADY: Posted: January 4, 2021

Welcome to the first full week of 2021!
I am entering this year with a strong, steady, and balance practice. This is my way to move forward into the New Year at a slower pace. I don't want to rush. I want to grow with options to check-in and be more self aware. It isn't big actions and gestures but gentle reminders to cultivate a strong, steady balance practice.
Check out this week's posted SLOW FLOW for try it!
Sending you with so MUCH LOVE, Laura

LAST WEEK OF 2020: Posted: December 28, 2020

LAST WEEK OF A LONG YEAR!
This is the final week of 2020! The challenges of this year were quite the opportunity for each of us. Individual TENACITY became the foundational structure of INNER RESILIENCE. I had a sense of wonder in forward momentum when needing to be in this GREAT PAUSE. Taking the cue, it was a chance to slow down and go within; to get to know yourself better. What practices or habits did you try or return to go within?
If you need a starting point, check out the latest SLOW FLOW practice below. It is an inner-check-in.
Sending you with so MUCH LOVE, Laura

MERRY + BRIGHT: Posted: December 21, 2020

Happy Winter Solstice and Merry Christmas!
Today, in the Northern Hemisphere, we are experiencing the shortest day/ longest night of the year. This day seems to embrace this past year, going into stillness within. The past year has asked us to be in a great pause giving space to be introspective. The themes of going into the winter season have been in full force this entire time. Personally, I see this stillness a gift to give space and time for my own self-introspective. I wasn’t totally on board, mentally and emotionally, at times. I know the discomfort of being still and going within does lead to growth and forward momentum. Just as nature goes into the cold, dark winter days the rebirth and growth of spring is welcomed and appreciated. I ask you, how are you finding stillness within?

BE IMPERFECT: Posted December 14, 2020

How are you doing this week?
Have you ever put a lot of effort into something and expected a perfect outcome? You move intentionally, think mindfully, and yet the outcome ends up, in your opinion, imperfect? Honestly, this happens more than I would like to admit. I posted recently about accepting the “imperfect” when all efforts don’t go the right way. Today is the third day of the Yogis Get Lit Challenge on Instagram. There can be a little frustrations to this challenge with the placement of lights. I encourage all to go with it and do their best. If the picture comes out imperfect to them, I promise it is BEAUTIFUL to all of us because we SEE the hard work and effort. All of the personality in each post is what makes us LOVE the person posting. So, please remember, though you feel it may not meet your perfect expectations, you are seen and loved in your efforts. Keep working hard, for you and your expectations not for others reactions.

LESSONS OF LAST WEEKEND: Posted, November 30, 2020

It is no secret I work weekends as a registered nurse at a long term care facility. Pre-pandemic, Sunday mornings were a rush to get church goers on their way. The morning usually had me making a tight time table of who was leaving when, who was going to miss dinner, and at some point chasing someone with their medication because their ride was early. Now, Sunday mornings are much different. Church services are listened to on the radio, watched on television, or streamed online. I don’t remember anytime which anyone shared about services they heard. Yesterday, however, two residents shared with me the message which stuck with them. One, was on having a positive attitude. The idea was to keep a positive attitude for yourself but also not to project your negativity onto others. The second one was on having gratitude. To practice gratitude, start each day thankful you are able to wake up and experience the beauty of the day. I think it was great reminder to hear. Though it is something I have heard often, it was the combination of topics I needed to hear again. So, I am sharing this with you. How can you have a positive attitude of gratitude?

FORWARD MOVEMENT: Posted: November 23, 2020

How are you doing this week?
A lot of everything and nothing is happening this week, but I, and hopefully you too, are moving forward. The online yoga offerings will remain the same this week. Even with the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, classes will not change. The online practice has been consistent and accountable. This holiday along with future holidays will come with a variety of hard choices. My plan is to continue the same offerings, regardless of holiday in which is shared. I know and understand there will be those who will celebrate and those who won’t. So, know during this time, my offerings will not change even though this holiday season has.
Illinois has reverted back to Tier 3 with stricter restrictions. Current massage clients are being contacted directly with affected changes, those with schedule appointments first. If I didn’t reach out, please feel free to contact me. I look as the revised Tier 3 as a way to move forward in a safe and responsible manner. I want for a healthy and safe practice, for myself and those served. We will work together and move forward.
