LESSONS OF LAST WEEKEND: Posted, November 30, 2020

It is no secret I work weekends as a registered nurse at a long term care facility. Pre-pandemic, Sunday mornings were a rush to get church goers on their way. The morning usually had me making a tight time table of who was leaving when, who was going to miss dinner, and at some point chasing someone with their medication because their ride was early. Now, Sunday mornings are much different. Church services are listened to on the radio, watched on television, or streamed online. I don’t remember anytime which anyone shared about services they heard. Yesterday, however, two residents shared with me the message which stuck with them. One, was on having a positive attitude. The idea was to keep a positive attitude for yourself but also not to project your negativity onto others. The second one was on having gratitude. To practice gratitude, start each day thankful you are able to wake up and experience the beauty of the day. I think it was great reminder to hear. Though it is something I have heard often, it was the combination of topics I needed to hear again. So, I am sharing this with you. How can you have a positive attitude of gratitude?
